We really do see the world around us come to life in summer. Some days the sky is just humming with life and looking out the door is like seeing tiny fairies everywhere as sunlight bounces off countless little wings.
And some not-so-little wings... I actually went to get an extra large net to remove this guy from the shower because I was worried I might hurt it with a regular sized net:
Butterfly sipping nectar:
We found this one whose wings did not open properly. We moved it to some flowers so at least it won't starve:
Paco is not starving:
Nor are we:
Nor are the pileated woodpeckers who are feasting on cherries and do quite a bit of shouting about their territory:
Nesting mama:
Look at the new haircuts!
Al and Paco checking out each other through the fence. They get feisty after shearing so we leave them separate until they settle down to keep them from fighting.
Paco looking rather giraffey:
We have more hummingbirds this year than ever before:
There are so many zooming around the front yard area:
Craig escorting the alpacas to some fresher grass:
Al and Paco overseeing Big Boy overseeing his hens:
Another swallowtail:
Hello peeps and very fluffed up Mama!
This cricket had excellent camouflage:
Oooh, an egg!
Little mantis in the garden:
We brought him in for a few days and he ate well:
Out in the pasture:
Tiny bird, big meal:
Mama deer:
